The Bible tells us that, contrary to the opinions of many, the church is not an institution, nor is it in fact a building we can go to, rather these Bible verses show us that we ourselves are the church, we are the building that Jesus instituted and which each of us become.

God loves us all, both individually and collectively. These Bible verses about the church reveal that God loves us each so much that He gave His only begotten and beloved Son to save us so that we could come home to Him. God is building His church and once we are saved we are placed like living bricks into the church He is building on the foundations of Christ and the teachings of the apostles.

Church Bible verse, Christian illustration

Wherever and whenever God’s children congregate, God is right there with them.

God Himself is building His church and adding people daily to the body of believers that make up Christ’s body here on earth. You see, the purpose of the church is to be the body of Christ in the world—God wants to work in the world through us. We are to care for everyone in the body, by feeding them the word of God, being concerned for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs and encouraging them to use their God-given talents to serve God, each other and the hurting world around us.

A Letter for you made of Bible verses about the Church

Bible verses about

You are called to be holy and united with all my children,[1] So take your place among those who are sanctified by their faith in my Son,[2] with all who call on Jesus—for he is both your Lord and theirs.[3]

You have all been baptized by my Spirit into one body, my church; all my children have been given the same Spirit to drink.[4] I am your God, the Father of your Lord. Through my loving kindness you were reborn into a living hope[5] and given the gift of my very own Spirit.[6]

Let peace rule in your heart,[7] and listen to the words of my Spirit.[8] By your new birth, you have entered the church, my child, and your name is written in heaven.[9]

Do not be the cause of anyone’s failures, no matter what their background is.[10] For here in the church there is no difference between anyone—my Son is everything and in everyone.[11]

My Son is building his church,[12] and every day I add all those I have saved to their number.[13] By our Spirit you have been baptized into the body of Christ.[14] By their belief, my sons and daughters are added.[15]

My children are a holy nation, chosen to be my royal priesthood.[16] As citizens of heaven,[17] you are not of this world.[18] Christ has set you free from your sins and is making you into a kingdom of priests, ready to serve your Father in heaven.[19] You belong to me so that you may boldly praise my Son who called you into his glorious light.[20]

He loves his church as a husband loves his wife; he gave himself up for her to save her and make her holy. He will soon present her to himself—a radiant bride, a church without blemish—both holy and innocent.[21] When the time comes, when the bride has made herself ready, the wedding will commence and you will have the greatest joy.[22] For the bridegroom is the King himself, the Lord of lords,[23] the very Word of God.[24]

She, the church, is his body; he is both her head and Saviour.[25] For her sake I have placed everything under his feet.[26] Truly, everyone invited to this wedding celebration is blessed indeed,[27] for the union of Christ and his bride is a profound mystery.[28]

As I present the pure church to her promised husband,[29] she should submit herself to him,[30] for you cannot be joined to both the ways of the world—seeking pleasure and success at all costs—and also to Christ: this is adulterous.[31]

My Spirit lives in every one of my children,[32] and everyone is being built into my spiritual house, just as if you were living stones.[33] You have been laid upon the foundation of my apostles and prophets,[34] some of whom were hunted, some beaten and some killed.[35] Christ himself is the building’s most important stone, and[36] as its foundation, cannot be replaced.[37] Through him the entire building rises in unity as my children are constructed into a home fit for our Spirit.[38]

Your foundation is on rock; nothing can make you fall, for you have heard my Son’s words and applied them in your life.[39] All my children drink from the same spiritual rock—the rock that is my Son.[40]

I will enlighten the eyes of your heart so you may know the hope to which you have been called.[41] As you have such a hope—be bold![42] What was once so glorious, is nothing at all compared with that which surpasses all—the everlasting glory![43]

Just as it has been from the very beginning, my children the church should devote themselves to my teaching, their fellowship, prayer and the Lord’s Supper.[44] My Son and my Spirit both urge you to pray for the people you know.[45]

Participate in the Lord’s Supper, the body and blood of the Christ.[46] His body is the living bread that comes from heaven: if you eat of this you will surely live forever.[47] Examine yourself and then[48] take and eat—it is his body; drink from the blood of the covenant,[49] the new covenant in his blood,[50] and divide it among you,[51] remembering what my Son has accomplished for you;[52] for he has bought the church with his blood.[53]

Fill your mind with thoughts of whatever is pure, whatever is noble and true, whatever is excellent or worthy of praise.[54] Help prepare all my children for their service, so that Christ’s body is fully developed, instructed and enlightened, growing in faith and the knowledge of my Son,[55] speaking the truth in love,[56] becoming mature and desiring to achieve all it can be,[57] overflowing with gratitude and thankfulness.[58]

I give gifts to everyone in the church: some can teach, some can heal and some can help.[59] But whatever you do, work alongside me[60] without complaint or argument so that you are without fault in this world.[61] Be strong and brave, do not be discouraged or paralysed by your fear.[62] But, be my witness of the suffering, dying and risen Christ, and about the fact that sins are forgiven for all who turn to me.[63]

All that people must do is confess: “Jesus is Lord,” and believe that I raised him from the dead, and they will be saved.[64] They will receive the Spirit just as you have,[65] and they too will be my very own children through their faith in my Son.[66]

Have you not been told to deliver this good news?[67] You have been sent—so go and make disciples in every country.[68] Go into all creation and tell everyone my good news,[69] be my witnesses to the very ends of the earth[70] and baptize into my family all who believe, both male and female,[71] in the name of your Father, my Son and the Holy Spirit.[72] Entrust what I have told you to reliable people and they will then be qualified to teach others.[73]

Just as my Son is the great Shepherd,[74] so should you also guard my children.[75] Be, yourself, a shepherd to my flock.[76]

Church Bible verses vineJohn 15:4-10

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
