Bible Verses about Creation

Introduction to what the Bible says about Creation

These Bible verses about creation reveal that God created the universe. This is the literal, take home message of the Bible and the world He created is all around us. It is fundamentally down to us to discover how this happened and to develop our relationship with God and His creation.

Whether it is by a Bible study on creation or through scientific experimentation, we must use our God-given minds and talents to explore the universe around us, to determine how nature works and how we can use this knowledge to improve the lives of everyone on earth.

The rich doctrine of creation is derived from studying these Bible verses about God creating the world and the beginning of everything and is foundational to our Christian faith. The doctrine of creation allows the piecing together of many different areas of human knowledge so that they can be joined into one seamless and rational vision of nature.

Chemistry, biology and physics are just some of the tools we can use to explore and understand the world around us and child-like, awe-filled eyes are a natural response to the excitement of this discovery. But, it should not stop there—we should not collect facts simply for the sake of it. Our observations should lead to a deeper transformation of who we are as we recognize the hand of God in all the acts of nature.

Bible verses about creation. Christian illustration of All creatures great and small.

“All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.”

This hymn about God creating the world and everything in it was one of my favourites to sing as a child. This stained glass window was photographed in the children’s chapel of Christ Church Cathedral in Montreal by colros.

By studying the processes of nature through the scientific method we learn far more than just the individual mechanisms involved—by investigating the world scientifically we can read the actual laws, the laws of nature, that God set in motion to rule this dynamic creation. As God created everything that exists, we can, in a way, learn about God simply by studying the universe and the fundamental questions we may have when contemplating our life and the world around us can be answered through the words of the Bible.

Book of Bible verses logoThe letter that follows is based on the second chapter of the Christian book Letters from Home, Our Father’s Message of Love. This chapter is called I created you and all you see and is made from Bible quotes about creation and the Scripture verses that reveal that God created life, the universe and everything and that He did so for a reason. Through the design and power of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit we are alive – and loved.

Bible verses about

I want you to understand that I created the universe, the heavens and the earth and everything in them.[1] For every building you see has an architect and was built by someone, but I am the builder of everything there is.[2] Can you understand my mysteries?[3] I perform wonders beyond your understanding and more miracles than you can count.[4] You must realise that the universe came into existence at my command.[5] I spoke, and it happened; I ordered, and it was made.[6] All that you can see did not exist until I created it.[7]

At night, when you look up, the stars declare the glories of my handiwork. Night after night, day after day, the skies declare their knowledge and speak of my work in a language that everyone can understand.[8] Lift your eyes, look at the stars—I created all of these! I know each of their names and by my strength they continue to exist.[9]

I stretched out the heavens and designed the Plough, the Pleiades, Orion and all the other constellations.[10] I founded the earth by wisdom[11] and suspended it in a vacuum.[12] I laid the foundations of the earth[13] and covered it with the oceans as with a piece of clothing.[14] The earth is filled with my love.[15]

Through my Son all things were made;[16] by my Spirit the breath of life was given.[17]

The earth is full of my creatures;[18] when I send my Spirit, they are created.[19] I did not create the earth for it to be empty[20] but, by my will, I created all life on earth.[21] I am the source and support of everything alive; within me is the fountain of life.[22] In my hand is the life of every creature and the very breath of mankind.[23]

Consider what I have done, for great are my works.[24] Study the animals and you will learn, or let the birds of the air teach you; investigate the earth and you will know, or consider the fish of the sea and they will inform you—all these know that it was I who made everything there is.[25]

I caused the land to produce vegetation,[26] and the seas and skies to be filled with creatures.[27] Then, I blessed them and encouraged them to fill the earth.[28]

I formed mankind from the elements of the earth,[29] and breathed life itself into you.[30] Know that it is I who made you, that you are all my people.[31] I give all people their life, breath and everything else;[32] I give life to every creature.[33]

From one man I have made every human nation.[34] At the beginning of their creation, I made them male and female[35] and determined when they should be born and where they should live.[36] I created everyone so that they would each seek me—if you reach out for me, you will find me for I am not far from you.[37]

I made you and shaped you like clay.[38] I created your innermost being and knit you together in the womb of your mother;[39] I poured you out like milk, curdled you like cheese and clothed you with your body.[40] You were not hidden from me for a moment; I saw your unformed body and knew all the days of your life, even before one of them came to pass.[41]

I gave you your life, my child, and showed you kindness.[42] I knew you even before you were in the womb;[43] you can rely on me, for it was I who brought you forth into the world.[44]

I formed and made everyone for my glory.[45] There is no favouritism with me.[46] Because, before me, everyone is the same—I have made you all as if from clay.[47]

Do not be afraid, I know how you are formed and I remember that you are but dust, made of elements of the earth;[48] I will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.[49] For a little while you may have to suffer all kinds of trials,[50] but look to me and I will be your strength and give you reason to sing,[51] I know how to rescue you.[52] Your time is short on this earth and your days are few.[53] So, remember your Creator when you are young.[54]

When your body returns to the dust of the earth from where it came, then your spirit returns to me, who gave it.[55] Love me with all your heart, soul, strength and mind;[56] trust in me and I will save you,[57] not a hair on your head will be harmed,[58] for I will be your Father and you will be my sons and daughters.[59] My love and truth will forever protect you.[60]

Do not be discouraged, I will never leave you nor abandon you.[61]
